{"id":1648,"date":"2015-07-01T15:20:55","date_gmt":"2015-07-01T14:20:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gcluimnigh.com\/?p=1648"},"modified":"2015-07-01T15:20:55","modified_gmt":"2015-07-01T14:20:55","slug":"cathaoirleach-nua-cheaptha-ar-an-mbord-bainistiochta-newly-appointed-chairperson-to-board-of-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gcluimnigh.ie\/ga\/cathaoirleach-nua-cheaptha-ar-an-mbord-bainistiochta-newly-appointed-chairperson-to-board-of-management\/","title":{"rendered":"Cathaoirleach Nua-Cheaptha ar an mBord Bainist\u00edochta \/ Newly Appointed Chairperson to Board of Management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gcluimnigh.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/02\/mbyrne.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1645\" src=\"https:\/\/gcluimnigh.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/02\/mbyrne.jpg?w=259\" alt=\"MByrne\" width=\"259\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Maria Byrne\u00a0was elected\u00a0to\u00a0Limerick City Council\u00a0in\u00a01999\u00a0and served until\u00a02014 when she was\u00a0elected\u00a0to represent Limerick City West on the newly amalgamated Limerick City and County Council.<\/p>\n<p>She\u00a0was\u00a0a member of the City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee for fourteen years\u00a0and\u00a0chaired its Audit Committee and Youthreach Committee for a period of ten years.\u00a0She\u00a0represented the VEC, and latterly the ETB on the Board of Management of Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh for the last ten years.\u00a0She\u00a0was instrumental as a Board Member in helping to support the development of this thriving new school.<\/p>\n<p>She was recently\u00a0appointed to the Board of Management of the Limerick College of Further Education, its first Board of Management. \u00a0She has\u00a0also been a VEC\/ETB representative on the Governing Body of Limerick Institute of Technology for the past 8 years.<\/p>\n<p>She regards her\u00a0membership of the Development Committee of St. Gabriel\u2019s School and Centre, Dooradoyle, Limerick for the past fourteen years as\u00a0a\u00a0deeply and profoundly rewarding\u00a0experience.<\/p>\n<p>She is\u00a0committed to the ethos of lifelong learning, and\u00a0led\u00a0by example in this philosophy\u00a0by obtaining a\u00a0Certificate and Diploma\u00a0e in Local Government Studies accredited by Dublin City University\u00a0through workshops, distance learning and home study.<\/p>\n<p>Maria says \u201cI am very\u00a0honoured\u00a0to have been elected Cathaoirleach of the Board of Management of Gaelschol\u00e1iste Luimnigh to succeed the late Proinnsias de\u00a0Priondarg\u00e1st, whose knowledge, experience and dedication to the school has been so important in its formative years. He has set\u00a0an example for us all\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u00a0live in exciting times in education as new thinking has brought about many changes and I have no doubt that further changes and improvements including e-learning will occur in the years ahead.
