Today\u2019s announcement has been warmly welcomed by parents, pupils, staff and the Limerick and Clare ETB (Patrons of Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh). \u00a0Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh has occupied rented accommodation since it\u00a0opened in 2006 with 31 pupils. \u00a0The school now caters for over 600 pupils, and it is expected that demand will continue to rise in the forthcoming years due to the rapid growth of Gaelscoileanna in the Limerick City\u00a0region.<\/span><\/p>\n George O\u2019 Callaghan, Chief Executive of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board said that \u201cWe are delighed to progress this building programme for Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh. \u00a0The school continues to grow at a\u00a0rapid rate since it opened in 2006 and it now requires its own custom designed and developed campus to meet the needs of a big school. \u00a0We have been working very closely with the Building Unit of the Department\u00a0of Education and Skills and the Limerick City & County Council to progress the development of the new campus and the appointment of a Design Team is a major step in delivering the project. \u00a0LCETB is particularly\u00a0excited that Thompson Architects, which has a very impressive reputation in the design of excellent buildings for various education purposes, has been appointed today\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n Chairperson of the Board of Management, Senator Maria Byre said: \u201cThe development of a new campus for Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh is one of the priorities for the Board of Management of Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh under\u00a0the direction of our patron body, the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. \u00a0 The clear success of this great school is asource of immense pride to all who are assocaited with Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh and it\u00a0is very exciting that a custom built campus will be designed and built to allow it to conitinue to serve more pupils in the Limerick City area.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n![\"14-11-16](\"https:\/\/gcluimnigh.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/11\/14-11-16-gcl-lcetb_1a.jpg\")
