The Parents Council would like to invite you to a Parents Talk by Dr. Stella O\u2019 Malley and the Parents Council 2018 A.G.M. on <\/span>Monday, 5 March 2018 at 7.30 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is an important occasion for parents where nominations will be accepted for the formation of a new Parents\u2019 Council which will operate from March 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Parents Council will present the Annual Report 2017 and copies of the Parents Council Constitution will also be available on the evening. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you would like to be appointed to the Parents Council, you must have a parent to nominate you or express your interest to be elected to the council. \u00a0An election may take place within each year group by postal ballot for parents to represent pupils from each year. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaker – Stella O\u2019 Malley – Psychotherapist<\/b><\/p>\n

The Parents Council is delighted to inform you that it has organised for Stella O’Malley, a psychotherapist, writer, best-selling author, public speaker and a parent with many years\u2019 experience working as a mental health professional, to speak on the night also. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Stella will focus on the pressures on young people in today\u2019s world and how to manage the unrealistic demands on young people to seek out perfection in all they do in their daily lives, while losing out on being joyful and happy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stella O\u2019 Malley – Biography<\/b><\/p>\n

Born in Dublin, Stella now calls Birr, Co. Offaly home where she lives with her husband and two children and runs her private practice. <\/span><\/p>\n

Much of Stella’s counselling and teaching work is with parents and young people which culminated in the publication of her two bestselling books <\/span>‘Cotton Wool Kids’<\/span><\/a> by Mercier Press in 2015 and <\/span>‘Bully-Proof Kids’ <\/span><\/a>by Gill Books in August 2017. <\/span><\/p>\n

Forging a career in the Irish media, Stella writes extensively about mental health issues for newspapers such as the Irish Times, Sunday Times, Sunday Independent, Irish Examiner, Evening Herald, Daily Mail, Irish Tatler, Pregnancy and Parenting magazine and many other media outlets. She\u2019s also a regular contributor to the Irish Independent and to <\/span>Mummypages.ie<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Stella frequently appears on national and local media such as RTE Radio 1, RTE television, TV3, Newstalk, Today FM and BBC Northern Ireland to discuss a broad range of topics such as mental well-being, mindfulness, conflict resolution in the workplace, communication skills, parenting and childhood issues in Ireland today.<\/span><\/p>\n

This event is being funded by the Parents Council of Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh for the benefit of parents and guardians who are part of our community.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We are extremely grateful to the Parents Council for its tremendous support of our school and the guidance and advice the members provide on a voluntary basis each month. \u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Our Parents Council also help to raise a considerable amount of money each year to support the activities and rent of facilities at the school for the benefit of all pupils.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
