New Multi-Million Euro Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh School Campus Officially Opened by Minister for Education<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n
Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board recently marked the official opening of Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh\u2019s brand new school campus at Clare Street in Limerick City. The\u00a0multi-million-euro custom-designed building<\/strong>\u00a0marks a new chapter in the\u00a0all-Irish co-educational<\/strong>\u00a0community college\u2019s history, providing students with a state-of-the-art learning campus. The opening was undertaken by Minister for Education, Norma Foley TD. The event was also attended Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science of Ireland, Patrick O\u2019Donovan,\u00a0the school community and other invited guests, including past pupil and Paris 2024 Paralympics champion, R\u00f3is\u00edn N\u00ed Riain.<\/p>\n

The new <\/span>8,000m\u00b2 school<\/strong>, which accommodates\u00a0<\/span>750 students<\/strong>, is located on the former Kerry Group site on Clare Street and involved an investment of more than\u00a0<\/span>\u20ac28 million\u00a0<\/strong>by the school\u2019s patron Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, funded by the Department of Education\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Capital Programme for Post-Primary Schools<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at today\u2019s official opening, Minister Foley said: \u201cWhat a truly wonderful welcome from the Gaelchol\u00e1iste Luimnigh school community here today. Thank you to the students who led me on a guided tour of this state-of-the-art new campus and to the students who spoke so passionately to me about their school and some of the exciting new facilities they\u2019ve been enjoying, including the Fitness Suite, the Science Lab, the Home Economics Room and the Art Room. This exciting new development is an endorsement of the school community for their tireless commitment, passion, and endeavour to educating the young people of Limerick and the region through the medium of Irish.\u201d<\/p>\n
