Seo cuireadh do scoláirí Bliain 1 – 4 a bheith páirteach i gcomhcheangal le Scoil Eorpach, Bruxelles III, www.eeb3.eu. Caithfidh na scoláirí seo seachtain i gceartlár na hEorpa. Beidh seans acu cultúr na Beilge mar aon leis an bhFraincis a bhlaiseadh ar bhonn laethúil agus iad ag fanúint le comhscoláirí atá ag freastal ar an scoil idirnáisiúnta seo. Gheofar spléachadh ar chroí lár na cumhachta sa Bhruiséil le cuairt ar phríomhinstitiúidí na hEorpa, Tabharfaidh cuairt ar Choláiste Lováin léargas ar an nasc stairiúil idir Éire agus an Bheilg.
Ach thar aon rud eile cuirfidh na scoláirí aithne ar dhaoine óga eile atá ar nós iad féin ag foghlaim i gcomhthéacs an tumoideachais. Seo scoláirí Éireannacha nó de bhunadh na hÉireann a bhfuil a dtuismitheoirí ag obair sa Bhruiséil. Cuirtear ranganna Gaeilge ar fáil do na scoláirí seo sa scoil ach don chuid is mó tá siad gearrtha amach ón dteanga agus ón gcultúr agus thacódh nasc le scoláirí Ghaelcholáiste Luimnigh go mór leo.
Tá sé i gceist go dtaistealódh na scoláirí go Luimneach i mhí na Shamhna agus go bhfillfimis ar an mBruiséil ag deireadh na míosa sin agus bhur bpáistí inár dteannta. Tá na sonraí seo le cinntiú. Níl ach líon an-teoranta scoláirí i gceist i mbliana. Más suim leat do mhac nó d’iníon a bheith linn, ní mór teagmháil a dhéanamh leis an nGaelcoláiste gan mhoill.
Information
Students of First Year, Second Year & Transiition Year are invited to avail of a partnership with the European School, Bruxelles III, www.eeb3.eu. These students will spend a week in the heart of Europe. They will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the French language, to study history and geography through the medium of French and savor Belgian culture. They will stay with host families whose children attend the school. Visits to the European institutions will give them an insight into the powerhouses of Europe. A visit to the Irish College, Leuven will showcase the historic links between Ireland and Belgium.
However, the relationships the students will develop with other young people also receiving their education in the context of language immersion is at the centre of this partnership. The students they will befriend are Irish or of Irish descent whose parents are working in Brussels. Despite the Irish classes which are provided in the school, they are largely isolated from the language and culture of Ireland and this link with the students of Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh will be greatly beneficial.
The cost of the exchange is paid for by each individual family and is yet to be confirmed as it is based solely on the cost of the flights, which will be booked once we have confirmed numbers.
If you require any further information, please contact the Exchange Coordinator Pat Ó Gliasáin on pgleeson@gcldrive.com
